If you have to do a great deal of driving for work, it is important you stay alert and safe. Make sure that you plan the journey in advance so that you don't get stressed and that people know where you are. Take into consideration the time you are travelling and think about traffic levels and if the weather is bad. Some cities are prone to really bad traffic when it starts to rain, so consider not using popular roads at these times. In heavy traffic there is a greater risk of accident, and if you have been driving for a long period of time you may find that you are sleepy and less alert.

Driving in winter is unavoidable, and unfortunately in the UK we are often subject to snow, frost and ice. Listen to traffic reports and if they give advice not to drive, take it seriously. Make sure that your vehicle is in a safe condition for you and other road users; check lights especially brake lights to warn other road users. Its more likely you will have to break on the ice, so take it slowly.

Make sure that when driving for work you stop regularly and stretch, as your posture may be affected and you can become uncomfortable. Pre existing aches and pains can be exacerbated by uncomfortable seating, so adjust your chair and steering wheel accordingly.

If the company you work for ask you for feedback on the policies when it comes to driving, give it. Ensure that you are also covered on their Car Insurance policy.
