Drop And Give Me Twenty
Recently, I attended one of my group mastermind meetings that I personally pay $20
,000 a year to be a part of. Yes, I too pay a lot of money for my ongoing education and mentoring advice. What kind of person would I be if I preached this sort of thing about investing in yourself but didnt actually do it? Unfortunately Id be like a high majority of what I call preacher/teachers out there who talk the talk, but dont walk the walk. In any event, these meetings consist of 3 two-day meetings over the period of a year and only 25 people are accepted into the group. So if you do the math this means that I am paying $3,333/day for only 6 days of group gatherings.
Why would anyone spend so much money on something such as this?
The answer is simple: because it makes me better, smarter, more efficient and ultimately makes me more money through my implementation of the shared knowledge from the group. And if you really think about it, this creates a snowball effect which is good for you too, because my new and ongoing acquired knowledge and resources are passed down to you (when appropriate) to help you make more money as well in your business.
During these meetings each individual in the group has the opportunity to discuss their business successes and problems in front of the rest of the group. The second day was my turn and boy did I get my moneys worth of constructive criticism. During part of the discussion, someone made a comment that I run my organization kind of like a military base and that I appear to be the drill sergeant. My first impression was that this was not a good thing, but then the individual went on to say that he admired this very much and the rest of the group agreed.
So with that said, I say to you nowDROP AND GIVE ME TWENTY SOLDIER!
Really, this is kind of interestingly funny to me because when I played baseball in college and was elected captain my senior year everyone on the team called me The General because I was always so serious in my actions on and off the field. I strived for and expected perfection out of myself and everyone else in order to win the game, because that was all that really mattered in the end. I didnt like to horse around, smile, laugh, or have much conversation with anyone on my team before or during the game. When it was time to think baseball I was in a zone because this is how I excelled and strived under pressure and in clutch situations.
As I come full circle with my thinking I realize that this same focus and drive from my athletic background is really the same fuel that makes me want to win so badly in the game of real estate investing and entrepreneurship. Clearly the main person that I am competing with isnt a person across the table from me, but rather the same person that looks back at me in the mirror.
I challenge you now to dig deep within and discover the fuel that really makes you want to excel as well in your business and life. Its there in all of us, you just have to find it in you!
