5. Coming to terms with the negativity of their life and what life has done to them.

6. Being ready and preparing one self for the fight ahead which would remove the defects of their personality.

7. Progress towards the eventualities and shortcomings of life and remove them.

8. One should be willing to take action and make amends with persons whom they have harmed in the process.

9. One should only make amends to those persons where there is no possibility of harm or abuse.

10. Continue to take steps to make amends and progress towards normal life.

11. Improve life through meditation and involvement in various social causes.

12. Carry forward all that they have learned in the process.

A person who successfully completes the entire process is called a graduate. A graduate who has learnt about the steps are believed to continue to stay well but only if they use the proper tools they have learnt and practiced while on this program. Former addicts achieve a new life once they have started to believe in themselves.

Those that abuse drugs chronically are involved in various detrimental systems of attitude as well as values and criminal behavior. They also lack moral, responsibility and long-term goals. The procedures followed in different drug treatment centers develop personal values and responsibility of an individual. Patients learn about communication and integrity in life. They also recover and continue to lead a normal life.
