Carnivale was a short lived television show on HBO in 2005 and 2006. It was a complex and engaging show about a traveling circus and a shadowy preacher who are inching towards each other in an apocalyptic showdown. It was sadly canceled before it could fully tell its story but here is a short rundown of the characters of Carnivale, from thepoker chip playing gambles to the fortune tellers to the dwarfs and mind readers. Samson Played by David Lynchs favorite little person actor, Michael J. Anderson was born with osteogenesis imperfecta which confined him to a wheelchair in his early life. Beyond acting he has worked for NASA as a computer expert. In Carnivale he plays the leader of the traveling carnival who is largely the puppet of the unseen Management, who gives Samson orders. Samson believes in Ben Hawkins and if the show would have continued would have made Ben the new commander of the carnival after the death of Management. Jonesy An ex-baseball player with a leg injury, Jonsey is the leader of the roustabouts who fix and maintain the circus. Jonsey has a crush on Sofie, a fortune teller in the circus. Jonsey eventually marries Libby, a dancer in the circus but is kidnapped, tortured and almost killed by a man who lost his wife in a tragic Ferris wheel accident. Ben is able to save Jonsey with his powers, allowing Jonsey to be one of the first to find out about his powers. Lodz The blind mentalist Lodz is one of the older members of the carnival and knows much more than anyone else about its strange and dark history. Lodz met Henry Scudder on the battlefield of Europe and Lodz used Scudders powers to start his circus and eventually steal his powers. Lodz had his sight taken from him in exchange for his mental powers He is eventually killed by Ben Hawkins after finding out about Lodz murder of another fortune teller Ruthie who was meddling in his plans to harness Bens powers and get his sight back.About the Author:
