A. Both methods described above would allow you to create so-called work documents in such tables as SOP10100 and SOP10200. They both validate business logic and posting should be done in GP client application. There is product with the name Posting Server which gives developer ability to initiate batch posting from SQL or your VS application

Q. Could we use SQL Insert and Update statements to work with import?

A. Theoretically it is possible but chances are high that you will cause data compromise

Q. Our ecommerce portal is hosted in Linux, coding is in PHP and database is MySQL. It looks like we cannot program eConnect directly. Would you recommend work around?

A. Yes, consider MS Visual Studio project where you create web services with parameters that could be called from your PHP application
