ELECTRO AMBIENT DUO CELESTIAL SOULS announce release of new EP on Expat Records.

Named Early Reflections, the release consists of 5 HYPNOTIC AMBIENT tracks, drawing comparisons to Mogwai and early New Order and will be released on 18th April 2011.

Electro ambient duo Celestial Souls are 2 brothers from East Kilbride in Scotland. Both have been playing and writing music for in excess of 10 years now and draw inspiration from an array of artists ranging from old blues singers to modern day electro pioneers. Starting out as self taught guitarists they have since expanded their musical abilities playing piano, percussion/drums and bass, incorporating and embracing an ever growing wave of digital and processed effects to create a new dimension to the sound and in essence a new instrument from which to draw inspiration. Over time their desire to encompass a range of instruments and musical styles and has lead to an intriguing and innovative type of music .

With influences ranging from the old classics like Pink Floyd and the Doors to modern more obscure artists such as Boards of Canada and Mogwai. The electro ambient duo have embraced all kinds of music from prog rock to minimalist ambient techno and just about everything in between. With an array of influences and ideas the brothers set out to create a new style of music that wouldnt fit straight into the established genres found in most music shops. They draw upon moods and emotions as the inspiration for the tracks, free from conventional song/chorus structure. Vocals tend to be more like the chants of shaman like rituals cleverly woven through hypnotic guitar riffs, tribal like rhythms and spine tingling synth pads. With soulful sax riffs and often understated but deeply captivating bass lines thrown in the sounds combine to create a web of melodic pleasure.

From hypnotic ambient beats and experimental sounscapes to space age hypnotic grooves, Celestial Souls is like transient music as it moves between genres and styles on a nomadic tribal journey. By using repetition combined with live audio, a modern hybrid of tech drums and progressive psychedelic electronica is created. The chord sequences and keys used in the tracks are atmospheric and minimalist.

The electro ambient duo's new EP is a taste of the bands early workings and displays a good mix of what they are all about. With tracks like the instrumental laid back Arcadia to the more psychedelic frantic bongo driven On The Run, the tracks encapture a range of emotions from the kind of music that makes you want to lye back and chill out on the beach to a more dark sinister sound that has the feel of a futuristic dark/dystopian sci fi nightmare.

Each track has a unique mood and depending on your surroundings and situations, the tracks will no doubt conjure up different meanings and thoughts for the listener. The guys are currently working on a new album which they hope to release later in the year but in the meantime this ep will definitely wet the appetite for whats to come. So sit, back relax, forget the/mundane realities/trials and tribulations of everyday life and lose yourself to the sounds of Celestial Souls.
