Two months have passed since the main earthquake and we are starting to settle back into our normal routines.Like many of you, we have had a light workload as we wait for decisions on the outcomes for homes and in many cases for the assessors to visit. So we are now able to let you know what is going on with some of this.EQC claims.Some of you may have a damaged heat pump as a result of the earthquake or power failures due to the earthquake. EQC seem to have been good at paymentfor this work. In our most recent case they paid within 2 weeks. If any of you have a problem with your heat pump, no matter what the brand, we are able to help. If you are not satisfied with the answers you get when you ring EQC it is a good idea to ring again and speak to someone else. The number of staff employed by EQC has expanded to 700 from 22 so it is probable that some will be more helpful and knowledgable of their systems than others. The same could be said for insurance companies.
Replace Chimneys Damaged in the Canterbury Earthquake program.You can apply to join this program if you are are a Master or Certified Builder or if you are a Registered Building Practitioner. A number of builders that we work with have applied and as soon as they have been approved we will be able to supply heat pumps for you within this program. Let us know if you are a builder who has registered so that we can send some work your way too. Before any work can start the home owner needs to have submitted a claim to EQC.Some details are yet to be confirmed. Nevertheless, we have been advised by EECA, who will be managing this program, that we should quote on the work directly to the home owner.
