Make sure that you have a newsletter subscription form on your blog to collect the emails of your visitors. You may not even want to put out a formal newsletter, but you can send updates with it. If you don't do this, you will lose a percentage of your visitors simply because they may not remember your blog. If you have their email you can contact them on a regular basis to remind them to return. If you don't have their email you will have to depend on their memory. Which makes more sense?
