Easy Relaxation Technique: Water Imagery Meditation

There are a lot ofeasy relaxation techniquesthat can be done by the beginner. One easy relaxation technique is meditating using water imagery. It is the perfect background to a meditation exercise using imagery of nature.

Imagine that you are in the open sea, sitting by the sand. Listen to the sounds of water moving, rushing, and flowing. Feel huge waves crashing at the rocks. Feel the strong air that moves these waters, which also moves you. Feel your mind, with all its thoughts, worries, doubts and fears being swayed by the air, and flowing with the waters.

Then imagine the waters to begin to tame, to turn into a very calm and peaceful state. Feel the air caressing your skin and whispering in your ear. Listen to the waters become quiet, from large crashes into smooth flowing, rushing sounds.

This easy relaxation technique will bring your mind at the same state as the waters: from turbulence there will be a gentle flow. The waters will represent our own sea of consciousness, moving like all our thoughts. From the turbulence and disorder of our thoughts, there will be a calmness and stillness, as our worries and problems are contained.

Imagine yourself diving inside the waters and finding all your thoughts floating in the process. As you face your thoughts, take them out of the waters one by one, as if by removing them from the waters, you remove them in your mind. Allow yourself to flow with the current. Dive deeper and get a hold of your innermost thoughts and worries, hidden in the bottom of the ocean. Sink into your thoughts, and then float, eventually letting all your fears and stresses go. Free your mind until what is left is just you and the water. Then slowly go to the surface. Take your first breath out of the clean water and open your eyes. This easy relaxation technique will let you feel refreshed without getting wet!
