Easy Step-By-Step Face Painting Ideas For A Great Halloween Party

Face painting is one those hobbies that is so much fun

, very social and, if you are so inclined, can earn you a nice extra income. And, with summer having run its course, face painters everywhere can reflect on a hectic time attending all those fetes, fairs and carnivals.

Now, with Halloween looming on the not too distant horizon, those who take this craft very seriously, will be busy working on their new step by step Halloween face painting creations. If you are new, however, and Halloween is going to be your first face painting party, you may be feeling a little apprehensive. But the beauty of face painting is that a few clever touches of highlights and glitter here and there can cover a multitude of mistakes that only you would probably notice anyway. The most important thing is to have fun.

As a beginner, it's always best to stick to easy face painting designs for your first party and there are quite a few that would fit in well for Halloween. Once you have your first party under your belt, you'll feel a lot better and be much more aware for the next one. Let's take a look at a couple of easy step-by-step face painting designs.

EASY GHOST/SKULL STEP BY STEP FACE PAINTING DESIGN: A super easy design, great fun to do but nice and simple.

1) Start by painting the whole of the face white. Use a sponge as this is not only quicker but covers large areas more easily. TIP: Don't make the mistake of trying to put too much on for the first layer. Let it dry and, if you want more depth to your colour, then add another layer. This is always the best way.

2) Now paint the eyes in sheer black. Make them quite large, taking the colour black past the top of the eyebrows while making sure to cover all the eyelid. Take care to make them as even as possible.

3) Now from each corner of the mouth paint a line gently curving towards and finishing at the edge of the face in line with the top of the ears. Make this a good solid black line.

4) Now paint little black lines down across the lines you have just drawn right from the corners. Do these same lines across the top and lower lips, making them match up. Now add a couple of nostril-like black lines just before the end of the nose. This is your skull. For the ghost, make the eye shapes droop downwards a little and paint a large mouth also drooping downwards.

EASY CLOWN STEP BY STEP FACE PAINTING DESIGN: Face painting a clown has to be one of the easiest designs in face painting whilst being popular with children.

1) Start by painting the whole face white. Sponge it on rather than brush. It's much faster when there's a large area to paint. If there are a few customers, it's good to be different so the nose does not have to be red, although most children will probably choose it. Have a couple of other colours available just in case any of the youngsters fancy a different colour.

2) Next we need a great big smile. When doing the outline of the mouth, you need to take it well above the top and bottom of the mouth and way out onto the cheeks. If you have a few children that have chosen the clown design, then it might be a good idea to consider making the mouth in slightly different sizes and shapes. You can have a few ideas already planned out in advance.

3) Now move on to the eyebrows. Make them stand out by painting them much larger than normal in length and width. You can paint them straighter than normal or much more curved to be a little different. Now paint the eyelids up to the eyebrows. You could do different colours here, taking the painting farther out to the side. Consider painting teardrops under the eyes, a small star or a heart on the cheeks and have some glitter available for the girls.

EASY CHEEK STEP BY STEP FACE PAINTING DESIGN: Not everyone wants a full face painting and cheek painting is a perfect alternative. Because we are looking at Halloween, then spiders, spiders' webs and bats are perfect and easy. And don't forget that kiddies love designs on their arms, hands, and legs.
