When Pastor Ed Young joined the Las Colinas Baptist Church in 1990
, he was determined to reach out to the community and to the world if possible. Well, with God anything is possible. God was going to prove this not only to Pastor Ed Young, but also to the whole world.
Pastor Ed Young founded the Fellowship Church and adopted a seeker sensitive perspective in the church. This meant that the church would emphasize evangelism and the spreading of sociological awareness in the community. To achieve its objectives, the church underwent various changes. There was the introduction of contemporary music to replace the old hymns in the hymnal. There was also the introduction of age appropriate teaching, which proved to be one of the most popular changes in the church. Young people enjoyed coming to church and so their parents committed to the church to keep their children involved in the programs.
The church has since grown and Pastor Ed Young realized his dream of reaching out to a larger community. However, God was not done with him and the Fellowship Church yet. The church was able to invest in Ed Young Television. This allowed them to record their services and have them broadcast on television.
