Effective Article Marketing 101

There areso many ways to drive free traffic to your website... but at the end of the day, there's just something to be said for the uber-effectiveness of time-tested, reliable, and proven-to-work methods like article marketing.

Article marketing is one of the most effective free traffic generation methods around. Here are three reasons why you should be it as a traffic strategy in your internet business:

1. Backlinks

I personally do a lot of SEO work for offline businesses - which is, honestly, pretty easy if you know what you're doing (ranking for the keyword 'bakersfield chiropractor' is a heck of a lot less competitive than 'weight loss', for example). Many times, a backlink from an article or two is enough to bump a local site up in the rankings for local terms. And if you're good at keyword research and can find some hot, long-tale keywords, you have have some relatively fast success with article marketing!

2. Ranking

Many times, you'll find that an article in a top directory like EzineArticles.com will outrank a post on your blog optimized for the same keyword. And this is pretty awesome if you can craft a compelling resource box and send traffic back to your blog to build your email list, to a sales offer, etc.

3. Re-purposing Ability

I'm all about re-purposing content; that is, re-writing a blog post to submit to multiple article directories, sending out an announcement about that post to my email list, making that article into a video to submit to multiple video sites, etc. And in my system, it typically all starts with a single article.
