Your time is important. As such you should learn to make as much as possible out of each and every day. However, there are many things each one of us does that eats away at our productivity. There are three simple things you can do right now to help clear away some of that clutter.

It's no surprise that television is perhaps one of the biggest time wasters in modern life. It's a simple one to eliminate, though. First, stop watching shows you don't care about. If you find yourself watching just for the sake of having background noise, turn it off.

I'm not advocating cutting out television altogether. If there are shows you love, you can still watch them. Just consider videotaping them or recording them on a DVR. This will allow to watch at your leisure as well as to fast-forward through commercials. Commercials can suck up as much as a quarter of TV-watching time.

Another way to save time is to not waste time doing nothing. Almost all of us find ourselves waiting for hours on end every week. It's usually easy to predict these situations ahead of time, and have a plan B in place to fill that time with something worth while.

Waiting is rarely a good use of time, especially when some wait times can stretch into multiple hours. Rather than simply count down the minutes, why not do something simple, but productive, such as reading a book or balancing your checkbook.

With the advent of modern media, it's become easier than ever to get information while doing other things. Case in point, rather than just listening to the radio in your car, why not bring along a podcast or audiobook? In fact, you could even replace that paperback you've been meaning to read with its audiobook equivalent.

In this way, you will be learning something important to you while doing something that takes minimal effort. You can easily use your ears for information gathering while keeping your eyes on the road.

Each of us has our own time crunches to deal with each day, but these tips should help you make the most of the time you have.
