Using huge headers is effective as it includes a lot of content. But the down side to it is that it occupies a lot of web space. You can make your website friendly by adding illustrations and characters.

Using a lot of color in a website header design can make it look crowded and inartistic. So it may not appeal to all the viewers. Hence designing the header with two or at most 4 colors makes your website artistic. If a lot of colors and graphics are used then the message is lost somewhere, which takes away from the primary function of the header.

So while selecting a website header design you have to careful about certain things. A carefully made header adds to the content of the website, thus making it popular and effective.
