Many people who keep their chicken's free range choose to move their coops onto fresh land especially in the winter months but sometimes this isn't an option. Your chicken pen and chicken coop will need to be on land that stays relatively dry to ensure the chickens have dry areas to forage about in and to feed in. Having chickens in continuous wet conditions can cause harm and will make them miserable over time. Your coops will also get very dirty and wet quickly which is also not ideal for your chickens.
