They are also cheaper because they have the pre-cert or pre-certification option.

This is wherein you have the option of sending in the loose diamonds and knowing the results before actually having it certified. This means that you don't have to spend a lot of money to grade a diamond that might not be even worth it. This also means that you can ask them to certify the diamond after you know its standard and value. GIA does not have this option they're more of a package type of crowd. The best thing about this is that EGL has given us a more precise level and category system, so you know exactly where your diamond falls in the spectrum.
