A friend of mine, Martin from New Mexico, tried out a diet diabetes 2 to treat his type 2 diabetes. Aside from his diet, he also exercised four or five times day to lose weight since he used to be overweight. He did these right after he was diagnosed to have type 2 diabetes. Diabetes mellitus, or simply referred to as diabetes, is a group of diseases characterized by insulin production problems. The body could either lack insulin or is unable to properly use the insulin.

According to Martin, there are only a few things that must be remembered in a diet diabetes 2. Here is a list of eight points that one should remember when dieting to lose weight or simply to control blood glucose levels.

1. You should eat more complex carbohydrates food because they take longer to digest. As a result, they help in balancing the blood sugar levels in the body.

2. You should eat beans and legumes if you want to replace your meat. This is because beans and legumes contain lots of protein that are good for your body.

3. Eat lean meat if you really want to eat meat. Buy those cuts that end in "loin" particularly sirloin and pork loin. When eating chicken or turkey, do not forget to remove the skin.

4. Eat a lot of fruits and vegetables because they contain fiber, minerals, and vitamins that are good for your body. You can eat them at breakfast, snacks, lunch, and even at dinner.

5. If you like eating fish, then you can opt for salmon or tuna because they contain the good fats omega 3 essential fatty acids.

6. Be careful when selecting your dairy choices or your calcium sources. Choose non fat or low fat dairy products such as non fat cheese, low fat milk, or skim milk.

7. Schedule your eating habits so that you can allocate the energy properly throughout the day and so that your body can get used to this routine.

These were the eight points that Martin always kept in mind in his diet diabetes 2. Couple it with regular exercise to maintain healthy blood sugar levels.
