For Christmas last year, I received a gift I never knew I needed, but couldn't live without... an electronic picture frame. As soon as I got my frame My frame is used to display a number of my favorite pictures as well as some videos that otherwise wouldnt be shown. That's right, I said a video! Many people still don't realize how flexible and dynamic these frames can be.. Being able to show videos is the most popular feature for me as it provides a moving image rather than a static pictures.

Mine sits on my desk at work, and it always gets a second glance from all who pass through. Since receiving mine I have chosen to give these excellent electronic photo frames away as gifts several times based on reviews I read online. Usually the most popular frames will have a review somewhere on the internet, so you shouldn't have to buy without the benefit of some expert guidance. You should be able to find product reviews on major sites such as Which etc. Another option is to drop in at your local electronics shop to get a feel for the frame that suits you. When viewing frames ensure you ask about the resolution given by the frame as this defines the clarity of the picture. Usually the higher the resolution the higher quality the picture will be. My frame has a resolution of 720x480 which suits my 7" frame perfectly.

So who should I buy my electronic picture frame from? Well that's open for debate, but there are some excellent manufacturers turning out high quality pieces. Reputable makes include Sony, Kensington, ADS, Smartparts, Philips, Westinghouse, Omnitech and loads more. Mine happens to be a Kodak, and being a loyal brand customer that's the make I've given as presents. This is not to say that this is the best. Be sure to do your research and choose a product perfect for you.

What I find really useful on my electronic picture frame is its abilitiy to display video. I have several videos showing on mine and has been doing so for a long time, with no problems as yet. You can show video both with and without sound. Pretty neat right?Isn't that cool? Most frames will also have a wireless remote control that allows you to change photos from across the room. You can also set it to show different images from whatever happen to have loaded. Being able to control the frame remotely is a great capability as it is often when staring at the frame from across the room that you want to try out a video or new image.
