Miley Cyrus is a popular American actress and pop singer. Cyrus shot to international fame with her role as Hanna Montana in Disney Channels world-famous sitcom Hannah Montana.
Cyrus was born in Nashville on November 23, 1992. Her parents were country singers. Cyrus was named Destiny Hope by her parents as they believed she would accomplish great things during her life. She was also named smiley as she would giggle a lot during her childhood (Smiley was later shortened to Miley).
Cyrus Miley shot to worldwide fame with her portrayal of the eponymous character in Disney Channels sitcom Hannah Montana in 2006. She also recorded music for this teen age centric serial. The success of Hannah Montana established Cyrus as a teen idol.
In 2007, Cyrus Miley was roped in by Hollywood records. She took part in best of the world tour the same year and performed across the world as both herself and her character of Hannah Montana. The tour turned out to be a huge success and soon a concert film Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert was released in 2008. The premier of the film was closely followed by the release of her first solo album Blackout that went on to become a chartbuster.
Cyrus has acted and performed in a number of films since then. Some of the most prominent among them are; the time of our lives (2009) and the last song (2010). The time of our lives also included Cyruss best selling single Party.
Cyrus Miley was ranked thirteen by Forbes Magazine in its list of top hundred celebrities of 2010.
