Because there are people out there that want to profit from others, it is important to use your discretion and be safe about buying electronics online. The classified ads sites simply facilitate the connections between buyer and seller, but they cannot guarantee the products that are being sold online. If you are buying an electronic product through a seller in online classifieds, you are going to want to make sure the product works prior to paying for it.

One of the first things you can do to, to test an electronic item is to give it a visual inspection, check for wear marks, cracks, chips or other obtrusions that may indicate the item has been dropped or poorly handled. Another thing to look for is if the item has been previously fixed or repaired, do the heads of the screws look scratched, have any stickers been removed and replaced, and all are parts seated together tightly in a manner that is consistent with its factory condition? If the product is battery powered does it come on? Is it charged? Do you have the means to plug the item in and ensure its proper working order?
