When you are planning your Disney Resort vacation there are a few things you should consider. When booking the hotel you may think it would be more financially smart to stay in an alternative Orlando hotel rather than one of Disney's own resorts. It is true that Disney resorts are more expensive however choosing to stay in a hotel outside of the park will only cause you to spend that "saved money" on other expenses that you wouldn't have if you had stayed in a Disney resort.
For example, Disney resorts have constant shuttles running every 10-20 minutes depending on time of day. Other Orlando hotels however have fewer shuttles, longer wait times, and are further from the park which may mean you might be better off renting a car. If you rent a car you will not only have to pay that renting fee but also a parking fee when you get to the park. Then you have to make the long walk to the park entrance where shuttles drop you off right at the front. So what you think you are "saving" in money you are actually spending and adding hassle to what is supposed to be your vacation.
