Email Headers - The Good And The Bad

When I started out in network marketing my leads to start with

, like a lot of you, were primarily family, friends and workmates who, having talked with me about the opportunity asked me to send them an email with more information which they could read and think about at their leisure. Id go away and compose what I thought was a great email explaining everything and answering all the questions they had put to me during our talk, fired it off and .nothing! No response, nothing! To be honest I couldnt understand it and began to question if these people really were friends, after all youd think that they would at least have the decency to reply to my email!

I eventually asked the question and do you know what the answer was? They werent even opening my emails! And do you know why? It was because the subject line didnt grab their attention, even though they were expecting something from me. How painful was that!

So I started having a look through my sent email folder and realised that the email headings in there were much the same as the ones that I deleted straight away without even opening! Now did that make me feel stupid!

Its in situations like this that Google is your best friend. A quick search for the best, or most catching, or most successful email headers for network marketing returns countless hits. So I selected some of the sites and compared their email headings and came up with a list of what they say are the proven email headers, and belive me they have absolutely nothing to do with what you are trying to promote! They have, however, worked for me, at least people now respond to my emails which means that they must be opening them and if they open them they will probably read them and hopefully move on to the next stage.


So, in no particular order, here is my list of the best proven network marketing email subject lines:

Is this really true?

Now if you read articles or books on advertising copywriting they all teach you that your headline (the email subject) should always give the reader a really strong indication of what the article is all about, and that unusual and unrelated headlines almost never get peoples attention. Well the list of the most successful email headers Ive just given proves that wrong with a vengeance.

Having said all of that you cant use odd headings all the time and I suppose the three rules are as follows:-

1.Make sure your headers stand out against all the other crap and rubbish and that floods into the average inbox, and for clues and hints look at your inbox or maybe at the ones youve deleted without opening!

2.Always try and make your prospects curious


3.Be aware of using curious headers or super benefit headers. The danger is that your mlm prospects will start subconsciously ignoring them even if they know who they are from so if you have something you know they want go for the direct and boring header.

Of the three rules I guess nr 1 is the most important and it doesnt really matter how you do it.

Now you may think what Ive just written is utter rubbish, but at least it has got you thinking and that is what your email header should do!
