Emergency First Aid Kits
Emergencies know no time or place
Emergencies know no time or place. They can occur at any given moment. They can be something as small as a paper cut or something as major as a bloody wound. You may have to wrap up a sprained knee or apply an ice pack to a bump on the head. It is always important to have emergency first aid kits available at all times. Firstaid kits can come in very handy and can help a laceration from becoming infected.
Some great places to keep firstaid kits besides in your home are in your office or your car. Other places to keep firstaid kits are when you are camping or when you are away on a day trip. You might want to bring one along to the beach or the park.
You might come across an emergency that is not your own at some time in your life. You could be traveling down the road and you are one of the first people on the scene of an accident. You would want to be able to help them, wouldn't you? This where emergency first aid kits would be helpful especially if you had to dress someone's wound or wrap their leg with an ace wrap. If this were you, you would want someone else's help.
Emergency first aid kits do not cost that much to buy. However, putting emergency kits together on your own is an even better idea. This way you can put in your firstaid kits just exactly want you want.
Most emergency first aid kits contain:
Ace wrap
antibiotic ointment
iodine
alcohol
A pair of tweezers
disposable ice bag
Band-aids of varying sizes
Two pairs of disposable gloves
4x4 gauze sponges
bandage tape
bandage scissors
Kling (wraparound gauze)
antiseptic wash
Ibuprofen
Aspirin
Tylenol
Dramamine
Benadryl
Q-Tips
CPR masks
face masks
This list of items that go into firstaid kits should serve its purpose well. If you put together firstaid kits much like this type you should be able to take care of most emergencies that arise. Once you have done the initial first aid you should then make sure that the victim receives proper follow up medical treatment with his or her physician as soon as possible, if necessary. If you come upon the scene of an accident and give someone basic first aid treatment they should be informed that they should also seek proper medical care follow up treatment as soon as possible.
Equipping yourself or your vehicle with well-organized emergency kits makes good sense. Always make sure that if you use any of the contents of your firstaid kits that you replace any medical supplies that you have used out of it as soon as possible.
