When it comes to police, ambulance services and the fire brigade the emergency light is a very important piece of lighting

. Often we see the police car being driven past us with their lights flashing sometimes at high speed. The fire brigade and ambulances too are the same.

For the police the importance of emergency light is that when they are informed of anything suspicious they cannot afford to lose any time. They need to rush and on their rush they need to tell everyone else to give way for them. This message is given through the lights and the siren. If they get late by a few minutes the damage may be very severe. If they arrive in the scene on time a crime could be prevented. This is the importance of police emergency lights. There are many more uses of these lights for police. For the fire fighters this light is equally important. Situation is the same with ambulance too.

The early emergency lights were made of a revolving light with a reflector, which could be of different colors. The fire brigade had a red colored light while the ambulance had a blue light. The bulbs used were incandescent bulbs. They had to be replaced often and protected from elements carefully. These were replaced by the LED lights later. These new lights were not only brighter but also attractive to the eye. Most of these lights could be programmed to show different patterns that matched the emergency. When the police vehicle approaches with the siren and the lights flashing the commotion is noticed by everyone and the way is provided for them to pass through. The new LED emergency light emits a powerful beam that anyone could see the vehicle from far.

The new improved emergency light consists of a few LEDs mounted in one frame. They could be plugged into the vehicle through the cigarette lighter if the owner wants it so. The lighting system could be mounted on the car in an instant. Though the earlier light emitting diodes were emitting only a low intensity light the new ones emit a high intensity light and also they are available in many colors. Being available in many colors is convenient; as for different departments you need lights of different colors.

There are many advantages of using this new emergency light. In the first place is their being economical to use as they don't drain your battery unlike the older incandescent bulbs. They are more efficient as they emit more light in comparison to the conventional lights. Another advantage is that they last longer. The life time of a LED is about 50000 hours of use but incandescent bulb cannot stand anything more than 5000 hours. Another advantage is their durability. They are quite resistant to elements such as sun and rain.

The new LED emergency light is going to stay for a long time to come and they keep on improving.
