Emotional Affair: Rebuilding The Emotional Connection With Your Spouse

If you suspect or know for sure that your spouse is having an emotional affair

, there will be certain emotions such as guilt, hurt, anger and sadness that you will be experiencing. You may even start to wonder if the relationship has gone from just being emotional to physical.

That is hard to tell and anything is possible especially since the cheater went to great lengths to conceal the relationship. However, if the offending mate decides to make a clean break, at least as far as the emotional affair is concerned, then you two can start to rebuild the marriage bond. One way to do that is to reopen the lines of communication.

When most people think of communication, they immediately think of a lot of talking. But know this, there is more to communication than just talking (even though talking with your mate is very important). There is verbal and non-verbal communication and using both avenues can result in both your marriage surviving an emotional affair relationship and the bringing about of a deepened intimacy between you and your spouse.

Examples of non-verbal communication would be spending time with your mate, whether it be sitting together and watching a movie or just simply leaving him or her a thinking of you card to make them feel special. But at this point, your relationship maybe devoid of any verbal communication, or you're both out of practice in communicating this way. In this situation it may take some time to cultivate the habit of more intimate togetherness than you have right now. Persistence, but in a friendly manner is the key here.

To move beyond your partner's emotional affair to create a more fulfilling marriage takes work. For one thing, you'll need to bolster your communication bonds, both verbal and non-verbal, by exploring new ways to communicate on a more intimate level.
