Emotions + Music = Power

Have you ever listened to a song and had it change your mood entirely

? I am sure you have. Some songs bring up memories of the past and others just have a beat that affects you emotionally.

This emotional connection of music is powerful and you can use it to your advantage. Make a list of the songs that motivate and uplift you. Put together two playlists for yourself:

Morning Motivation

Power Up

Of course you can call them whatever you want but I suggest the following.

Create a playlist that you can pop on when your motivation is waning. Maybe you listen to it as you wake up.

Your first thought in the morning might be I dont want to workout today or I dont feel like eating healthy but once you start your "Morning Motivation" playlist you tap into the emotional power there.

I bet you cant stay in bed and you get up to workout. Or if you are in the kitchen you find a smile on your face as you make a healthy breakfast.

As for the Power Up playlist, gather songs that trigger a deep sense of your purpose here in this world. Choose songs that are spiritual and/or uplifting.

They do not have to be religious unless you are a deeply religious person. These songs should just resonate with your core and inspire you.

Play this list whenever you feel distracted, depressed or confused. You will find your emotional reaction to the songs will bring you back into focus and lift you up from whatever pit you have sunken in to.

Try it - you have nothing to lose! Give yourself a week and see how much more powerful your positive emotions feel.

Get your groove on!

Some of my favorite upbeat songs for my Power Up list are

* Say Hey by Michael Franti & Spearhead,

* What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong,

* and Live Like You Were Dying by Tim McGraw.

My favorite get up and get moving Morning Motivation songs are

* Walking on Sunshine by Katrina & The Waves,

* California Girls by Katy Perry,

* Fighter by Christina Aguilera,

* and Eye of the Tiger by Survivor (oh, am I giving my age away with that one?)

What song are in your lists?
