Your files will now be encrypted showing green files or folder name.

These are the ways through which you can encrypt your files and make them secure, but now the task is how to decrypt them. This is necessary to access them on another computer. The steps to decrypt files are as follows,

Right click the folder you want to decrypt and then click properties.

In the properties dialogue box, click advanced.

An advanced attributes dialogue box will get open, untick the check box of encrypt contents to secure data and then click ok.

If you wants to move your encrypted data to the new computer, and want access their, you have to use private keys to access it. So private keys are very important and they should be saved at a secure place, the steps to back up your private keys are as follows,

When you have encrypted the files for the first time, you will see a key icon in the system tray, double click on it.

An encrypted file system dialogue box will appear, click on back up now (recommended).

On the certificate export wizard, click next.

Then, click on personal information exchange and click next.

Type a password, confirm it and then click next.

Save your encryption key by specifying the name of the file you want to export and then click next.

Click finish, you will be notified that the certificate export is successful.


Back up the certificate file for later use.

By these ways you can protect your files and certificates and can use them later to gain access of your encrypted files on another computer.
