For Christians, there are numerous occasions to celebrate every year

. Although the overall number may not be as much as that of several other religions, Christian occasions are generally celebrated by mass majority of the Christian community with splendor. Some of the major occasions celebrated by Christians include Christmas Day, Easter Sunday, Good Friday, christening and marriage ceremonies among many others.

On such occasions, many families tend to invite close ones home for dinner or lunch and most of the family members come together for the celebrations. Christmas Day is the day that Jesus Christ was born and so, it is one of the biggest occasions of the year for Christians. Following Christmas is Good Friday, the day when the Lord made a sacrifice by dying for everyones sins. This is also another auspicious day for Christians as it marks the cleansing of peoples sins.

Then again, theres Easter Sunday, the day that the Lord rose from his tomb and came back to life. Apart from the mentioned occasions, the christening of a child and Christian weddings are also considered very important and auspicious occasions.

During the christening of a child, the child in most times is also baptized. On such an occasion, it has more or less become a free-willed practice to hand the parents of the child a christening gift. A christening gift (In Danish dbsgave ) is offered as a sign of good wishes and also to congratulate the parents as well as the child. In simpler terms, the christening of a child is a naming ceremony that marks the beginning of new life of a pure human being through his/her baptism.

On the other hand, Christian couples usually get engaged before marriage. Most times, it is the man who proposes to the woman asking for her hand in marriage. If one follows old Christian tradition, men present their women partners engagement rings (In Danish forlovelsesring) when proposing to her for marriage.

Apart from the mentioned occasions, there are several others that are celebrated by most Christians and are equally important as some of the mentioned occasions. However, Christian occasions are simpler and are usually low-profile. Most families prefer to celebrate within the vicinity of their own houses.
