Top Gear Magazine, the UK's leading automotive magazine has announced its winners for 2010, as well as the traditional "best new car" awards Top Gear has awarded Fiat with "Engine of the Year" award for the Fiat TwinAir.

This is not the first award for the revolutionary engine, last month it was recognised by the influential US magazine, Popular Science. Top Gear describes the engine as, "A little bundle of energy, charm and downright saintliness to prove our good old friend the gasoline engine is still alive and very much kicking..."

The Fiat TwinAir weights in at just 85kg, and has CO2 emissions of just 95g/km which means this ground-breaking engine has the lowest emissions of any quantity production petrol engine. Fear not the highly efficient TwinAir engine has not taken the fun out of the Fiat 500; it has 85bhp and 145Nm of Torque, making it a mainstream A-segment vehicle. In fact the TwinAir is more powerful than the best selling 1.2 litre Fiat 500; the TwinAir has 23% more power yet 15% less CO2.

Elena Bernardelli, marketing director, Fiat Group Automobiles UK and Ireland gracefully accepted the award and said, "We were confident when we launched the TwinAir engine that our customers would like the combination of power, low emissions and fun to drive, so it's an added pleasure when experts from the motoring media also give us such high praise. I am sure that TwinAir will secure many more honours in the future."

The TwinAir is also priced very competitively, pricing starts at 10,665 for the Fiat 500 TwinAir Pop and increased to 16,065 for the convertible Fiat 500C TwinAir byDIESEL. I'm sure there will be Fiat offers in Kent when it is first released, so watch out for the deals
