I was delighted for England and delighted for Martin Johnson after their second Test victory against Australia.

The result certainly keeps the wolves from the door for the coaches - make no mistake, questions would have been asked had England again failed to produce a decent performance.

Although they went down narrowly to the Maori, the win in Sydney means they can look back on the tour as a success.

These tours are all about the Tests and they managed to win one in Australia, which as we all know does not happen often - just three times in fact.

Unlike in Perth, where they seemed bereft of ideas, in Sydney they moved the ball into space. They kept possession well, did not go to ground as their first option, and offloaded well out of the tackle.

Ben Youngs certainly proved that he is able to compete at the top level. I suspect the Wallabies did not do their homework on him because his try came from a bread and butter move for him at Leicester.

Youngs also makes opportunities for other people, as we saw when he fed Tom Palmer to set up Chris Ashton's try.

Ashton has matured well in a short space of time. He missed a chance against France in the Six Nations but against the Wallabies he did not make the same mistake.

I thought Toby Flood also controlled the game well, taking the ball flat on the gain line, and passing and kicking well. Youngs, Ashton and Flood were real pluses for me.

The other player to establish himself was Courtney Lawes. England have found a starting second row in the young Northampton player.

International rugby is a game for fit, young athletes. It's not usually England's way to give youth its head, but if Lawes gets another eight or nine caps under his belt he will be more than ready for the World Cup.

Although England failed to close out the tour on a winning note, I thought they played some good stuff against the Maori.

Tour matches are all about giving squad members a chance and Johnno managed this well over the summer and they weren't far off beating a very useful Maori outfit.
