English Mastiffs Training Is Important
Typically your English Mastiffs are very polite with most people
, but in some of the English Mastiffs you will find a timid and shy behavior and even some behavior to the point of having aggression. However, with that said you will want to realize that the English Mastiff is a great breed with children. You will want to remember though that English Mastiffs are some of the largest dogs around and in some of the books that you can read about on the English Mastiff they will even comment that many people consider them to be the largest dog breed in the world. With that being said you would think that such a large dog would be very independent, but the English mastiffs are always looking towards there owner for support and will want to be very close to you at all times. You are probably thinking that the English Mastiff sounds like the perfect dog, but it does take quite a bit of training to get your English Mastiff to listen to you and here are some of the reasons why you will want to train your English Mastiff.
Even though the English mastiffs are gentle giants and do really well with children and a wide variety of other pets one of the main things that can help you out the most is getting your English Mastiff trained. You have probably seen them and think that the docile behavior that you see is a normal action which for some it can be, but you will want to make sure that you complete training with your Mastiff to make sure that the docile behavior doesnt turn around when a stranger or a friend of yours comes over and you cannot control your English Mastiff. You might notice that the English Mastiff that is normally very gentle since they are so attached to their owner can be very protective as well, but with the benefit of training you will know how to handle them better.
While English Mastiffs are generally lazy you will learn in your training for them that you will want to teach them to heel. While you might not really think that waking this sleeping giant would be a good idea, but you will want to do that to help discourage any of the common health problems that can be found as they get older. However, you will want to make sure that you have your English Mastiff trained when you take them on a walk to a new area or even an older area that is frequented by people and other animals that way you will be able to control them much easier inside of the crowd and not be drug behind them like you have probably seen various videos of that happening.
While you and your English Mastiff will have a happy life with each other you will want to remember that because of the size of them you will want to make sure that you are able to control them with the help of training. Even though they are typically very lazy, good natured, and patient you can run into some of that are anxious and shy. So to help you control this behavior you will want to make sure that you are able to set aside enough time to properly care for your English Mastiff and remember to keep them supervised around children because of the sheer size which can accidently knock over children.
