Survey is an old way to collect information and consumer opinion about products. However, the new twist in the tale is that online surveys and mobile surveys are offering rewards, incentives and deals for the same thing. It's a way of reaching the customers to know what they want and thereby improve the sales of the product in the market.

There are online surveys and mobile surveys where the customer gets paid to complete surveys. This has now become a way of earning on the internet. Bigger companies employ other companies to prepare survey questionnaires and it is the work of these online survey companies to lure customers to their sites. The reward may be as little as 1 cent but with the number of advertisements on the site, people can earn enough if they have the patience.

In the business world, an untested idea is a dicey idea. Before spending millions on designing, producing and marketing a product, companies have to research whether consumers want it and what kind of product they want. Therefore, they prepare free online surveys focusing/targeting a specific group for testing the product to determine which logo is the catchiest, which flavor of chips is the most favored and so on.


Online marketing survey companies create surveys for such products and take them to the consumers. Links to the selected surveys are embedded on the website of the company. They are also distributed as emails for online publishing. Some companies provide free online survey samples to be tested before being published.

The only problem with rewarding consumers for taking online surveys is that it gives them the incentive to cheat. The more surveys they fill out, the more points/money they earn. This makes them answer the questions randomly and as quickly as possible. For this, the consumer creates a number of e-mail addresses to answer the same survey six or seven times or maybe more. They also resort to lying about their personal details to participate in the survey.

The vice versa is also true. There are survey scams, which promise the consumers rewards for taking surveys and then do not reward them.
