It is referred to as a global city, and is a great example of the booming economy of China, being the financial and commercial centre of the country. It is famous for The Bund a collection of rich early 20th century architecture, museums, and other iconic landmarks such as the City God Temple and Yuyuan Garden. Shanghai also has many mosques including Xiao Taoyuan Mosque, Nuxingzhenshi Womens Mosque and Fuyou Lu Mosque.
Xian, one of the oldest cities in China, is another popular destination for Islamic holidays owing to its historical monuments and ancient ruins. Some important sites here include the Mausoleum of Qin Shi Huang and his Terracotta Army as well as the citys Muslim quarter (Islamic Street), which is home to the oldest mosque in China - the Great Mosque of Xian. The mosque is still used by Chinese Muslims as a place of worship and the area has been a home to them for over a thousand years. Those looking to experience how Islam spread throughout China should opt for tours along the Silk Road, which was the trading route of ancient China, encompassing areas of Urumqi, Turpan and Kashgar.
