When it comes to taking time off, the majority of us are guilty of booking the first flight to somewhere hot and lying on a beach for as long as we possibly can. Whilst, getting out those waterproof jackets and hiking through the woods might not seem like everyone's cup of tea, once you get going, even the most vociferous decrier of going back to nature can find that it is at once edifying, relaxing and actually remarkably good fun. Whilst heading out in the winter may well be wet and windy, for those who don't have the sensibilities of an otter, then heading out in the summer can get you all the same great sights without you having to endure the same elements. It is easy for us to think that the only way to see something new is to head away to new countries, yet with so many beautiful and unique places scattered throughout our own country, a summer holiday in Britain can be not only far cheaper but also equally as rewarding and far more culturally enlightening than two weeks on a dirty beach.

So whenever you want to get away, don't instantly think about exploring the world before you have seen all the delights our own country has to offer. You may well be surprised just how little you knew about it, and just how much the outdoors is for you.
