Enjoy Camel Wrestling And More
Kusadasi is a beautiful resort town along the Aegean coast in Turkey
. Tourism is the main income generator in the town due to its special sites and attractions. You will be able to enjoy a variety of activities here, some of which are mentioned below.
Camel Wrestling
If you would like to enjoy the Selcuk Camel Wrestling Festival, then you should visit the city between December and January. This annual festival is usually held on the Sunday closest to the 15th. This is the ideal time for camel wrestling because it is their breeding season, when the males will be ready to compete for their female counterparts.
Although the competition starts in the late morning, you should come relatively earlier to secure yourself a good place for the best view possible. Prepare yourself for rain and cold, as this time is right at the heart of the winter season.
A Visit to Ephesus
Ephesus is a historic town whose history is traced to 3000 BC. This ancient city will strike you with its beauty, and you will realize that old does not mean ugly or unskilled. Different nations and dynasties have ruled the town over the centuries, and it is the home ground of many important people, among of whom is the philosopher Heraclitus.
The Apocalyptic Seven Churches
The Bible talks about admonitions given to the seven churches: Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, Laodicea. Kusadasi is a good place to visit all these churches within a period of about five days. Others are relatively close and of course, the closest in the one in Ephesus.
Dilek National Park
The park offers great attractions from April to November. Although this is a great place for a picnic, you are not allowed to have a fire burning. You also can not camp here. You can go to enjoy a close encounter with nature without interfering with it. However, there are drinking water fountains, showers and lavatories.
Turkish Bath
Despite the fact that many western features have replaced the traditional ones, some are still preserved. A good example is the Turkish bath, which will give you a special sensual delight. Your skin will also have a special glow afterwards. There are a few hamams from where you can enjoy this tradition that you will hardly find anywhere out of the country.
Waterparks
The city has three waterparks, two of which are some of the largest throughout Europe. They are Aquafantasy, Adaland and Longbeach Aquaresort, which is relatively smaller. All of them operate free shuttle services from the city. The waterparks offer an ideal environment for the enjoyment of the entire family.
Local Markets
Kusadasi has three notable markets that you can visit. The markets sell fruits and vegetables on Tuesdays and Fridays while they are dedicate to clothes on Wednesdays.
Alternatively, you may visit the fish market, where you will find the day's fresh catch.
Other things you may enjoy in Kusadasi are Turkish nights, scuba diving and boat trips. Have a great time!
