Enjoy Power Showers At Home
Whilst you may have heard of a power shower, you might not know exactly how they work and whether your home can enjoy the benefits of a power shower
. This article aims to shed light on power showers, what they are and when they can be used. If you have a house and need a new shower or are just curious to know more about this type of shower then you have come to the right place.
A power shower takes a normal mixer shower and adds a high performance pump. This makes the water extremely powerful when it comes out of the shower head. There is nothing worse than a weak shower, and anyone who has experienced this will understand why. A mixer shower is a shower that mixes the hot and cold water internally to produce a warm stream of water. Some showers need both the hot and cold tap switched on and the temperature adjusted manually. This can be difficult to do and can often result in a shower that is one minute too hot and then suddenly too cold. A mixer shower ensures this never happens.
Having a power shower can truly make your shower experience a good one. Having a shower can be a fairly terrible experience if you have to shower in a weak stream of water in a cold bathroom. A power shower provides the right temperature and a high powered jet of water that lets you jump in and out of the shower just a few minutes later. On a cold morning there is nothing more relaxing and rejuvenating than a shower in a power shower. Power showers need gravity-fed low pressure water systems in order to be fitted. If your house does not have this type of water system then a different type of shower will be necessary. Those with combination boilers wont be able to have a power shower fitted, or those with high pressure water systems.
If you have a combination boiler - a boiler that heats mains water when the tap gets turned on, then a standard mixer shower will work well. You can purchase high performance electric showers that need just a cold tap and an electricity supply to work, rather than both a hot and cold tap. There are a good range of well functioning electric showers on the market that provide high pressure showers and look good too.
There is no doubt that power showers offer the ultimate in shower luxury, but you should be aware that they do use considerable amounts of water. The high pressure means a very large volume of water is used during even a short shower. If you are aiming to keep all your costs at home extremely low, then a power shower may not be the answer you are looking for, as it could increase your monthly water bill. You will also need a water tank that has the capacity to keep the water running towards the shower. If the amount of water coming out of the shower exceeds that which is being sent towards it then the system will be drained each time the shower is used and an air lock could even be created.
If you have a low pressure water system that is gravity fed, then power showers will be accessible to you. If not then you must not despair as an electric shower could be just what you need. If you are refitting your bathroom then why not invest in an electric towel rail at the same time. You can step out of your luxurious power shower and wrap a warm towel around you for that added bit of luxury and warmth in the mornings!
