Havana has a number of fascinating museums to visit, including one based in Ernest Hemmingway's former home. The villa is packed with the late author's possessions, including his extensive library, and is a real treat for anyone with an interest in literature.

While they may not be museums in the traditional sense, you are also likely to enjoy a tour of one of the local cigar factories to see the world's best torcedors in action and a trip to the Bocoy Rum Factory to learn how the sugarcane spirit is made.

And rum is, of course, likely to feature in any night out in Havana, with the drink an ingredient in many of the cocktails you will enjoy during an evening at Tropicana. A trip to the upmarket nightclub is the perfect way to round off a day in the Cuban capital, as you will be treated to a show featuring traditional music and more than 200 dancers in extravagant costumes performing exuberant routines - a sight that is bound to live long in your memory.
