Enjoying Atlanta's Centennial Olympic Park

Centennial Olympic Park is used to accepting all different types of visitors

, as it was once the site for the 1996 games. Since the mid-nineties, it has now become a hub for activity within the city, especially for festivals, music, and family fun.

One of the most popular events at the site is called Music @ Noon. Every week on Tuesday and Thursday, musicians are invited to come perform at 12 pm at the Southern Company Amphitheater.

Those that work during the day can bring their lunch to the amphitheater on their break and listen to some soothing or entertaining local artists. The event takes place from April to October, so you will not be able to catch it during the winter months.

However, spend your spring and summer with friends and coworkers enjoying the sun and the outdoor atmosphere. You can hear all different types of jazz, R&B, and pop performed by local musicians.

Visitors to Atlanta can also benefit from this fun attraction. Get some of your favorite takeout or pack a picnic and give you ears the best treat they will have your entire trip.

There is usually a list of future performers online on the park's website, so you can always plan ahead of time on who you would like to see perform. The show is free, so you do not have to feel guilty about leaving work to lunch and listen.

Another music festival that takes place at Centennial is the Wednesday WindDown. It takes place from April to September from five-thirty to eight o'clock on Wednesday nights.

It is an opportunity for you to relax after a tough day and travelling home in rush hour. You can relax, have a meal, have a glass of your favorite beverage, and be musically enriched. The concert series is free, and has been going on every spring and summer for the last decade.

You can enjoy jazz and contemporary music, local bands, and your favorite touring acts. Bring a picnic full of treats or enjoy snacks and meals from some great vendors.

The park also offers free family fun days on the fourth Saturday of each month throughout the spring and summer. There is a great deal of recreational, exciting, and educational events available for adults and children, alike.

Each Saturday offers a different theme, and you can browse online ahead of time to see what the day's fun will include. There is a number of different community organizations, artists, and school groups that become involved, so you will be able to find all different types of fun activities and things to learn.

Each year, Centennial has one of the largest Fourth of July celebrations in Georgia. It is free for all who attend, and is a great way to spend the day celebrating the independence of the United States of America.

There are usually a lot of kid-friendly activities, most of the time from twelve in the afternoon to four. Crafts, face painting, games, stilt walkers, and food are available to those that really want to have a great time.

The fireworks display is something that you will not want to miss. Though you can see them from all over the park, you may want to find a place that is not crowded to set down a blanket, relax, and wait for the spectacular show.

Visitors to Centennial Olympic Park will definitely want to check out the Fountain of Rings. It is a beautiful creation of jet streams, lighting, and music. It is the centerpiece of the entire establishment, and provides a fun place for children and adults to admire.

During the winter months, an outdoor ice skating rink is set up for the enjoyment of the community. The rink is open daily, including holidays, and costs seven dollars for the entrance fee and skate rental.

It is also aglow with lights from November to January for the Holiday in Lights. The display is different and unique each year and offers some of the most beautiful holiday lighting.

You and your family can stroll through the park and witness the loveliness. No matter what time of year you visit, Centennial Olympic Park is one Atlanta attraction that you will not want to miss.
