Enjoying Summer, Abu Dhabi Style!

With more and more Abu Dhabi nationals and foreigners opting to stay in Abu Dhabi over the summer

, the need to provide them with high quality, family-oriented entertainment was great. With this in mind the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company and Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority together organised a Summer in Abu Dhabi Festival in 2008. Its success was such that its continuation in the Abu Dhabi events calendar was sealed.

The Festival is open to anyone and everyone regardless of nationality, residency, ethnicity etc. This is the main reason leading institutions such as the Abu Dhabi Police, Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage, Capital Centre and Etisalat have come together to sponsor the event and ensure its continuity.

The Festival is held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. This 13,000 square-meter, air conditioned area provides the necessary facilities for a festival of this magnitude. Each year the festival is divided into various individual themed islands, such as Creativity, Discovery, Fun, Action, Imagination, Adventure, Heritage & Culture, Art, Science and Technology, Entertainment and Sports. The activities featured in these islands are not just exhibitions but hands-on activities that are sure to thrill the old and young alike.

Apart from the activities available on the themed islands, magic shows, carnivals, circus and an ice show also adorn the fringes of this event. As the festival gains in popularity, each year will see more and more additions until this 8-week event becomes seasons ultimate entertainment draw.
