Enjoying The Winter Wonderlands Of Cardiff, Bristol And Plymouth

There are nine Green Flag parks in Cardiff, including the city centre park

, Bute Park. This is a popular park, containing extensive grounds, a nature trial and bike hire, as well as Blackfriars Friary excavations and a timber sculpture trail. Around two miles from Bristol Centre, Ashton Court Estate is one of the busiest country parks in the UK, with 850 acres of grasslands and woodlands open to the public. Within the city, near Cabot Circus is Castle Park, one of the few parks within the city. As well as traditional park facilities and open spaces, it also contains some of the remaining Bristol Castle ruins.

Around one third of Plymouth is green space and the large Hoe Park offers fantastic views of the Plymouth Sound. With facilities available to appeal to everyone, Hoe Park is the ideal destination for a leisurely winter ramble.

As well as taking the opportunity for a stroll, you may wish to indulge in traditional outdoor ice-skating. If you are visiting Cardiff, the Admiral Open Air Ice Rink is available until 6th January 2013 and Bristol and Plymouth are hosting Winter Wonderland celebrations. The Mall outdoor ice rink is now open in Bristol and the Winter Wonderland outdoor rink is open in Plymouth city centre.

The National Museum Cardiff has one of the finest art collections in Europe. Current exhibitions include Artes Mundi, which features the work of seven contemporary and groundbreaking artists and Wales Animation, celebrating Welsh animation through exhibitions and hands-on events.

There are also plenty of exhibitions and Christmas family events happening at Plymouth City Museum and Art Gallery and The Arnolfini in Bristol is one of Europes finest centres for the contemporary arts, offering exhibitions and activities for visitors of all ages. The RWA is currently exhibiting Art on Paper with Peter Ford and the Christmas Pop Up Shop Spike Print Studio is offering limited edition prints, as well as Christmas cards, wrappings and gifts.
