Enriched Married Life - the Alternative To Divorce

Divorce and a happy married life are two divergent things that it may look strange if I suggest an enriched married life as an alternative to a marriage break-up. But this is a realistic view. When we talk about divergence, we refer to different paths emanating from a point. If you are at the point of getting a divorce, it means you are about to traverse one of the two paths branching out from that point. I am showing you the other path that also starts from the same point but going in a different direction. This is the path of enriched married life. This is not the continuation of the troubled marriage you had faced all along. This is different. If you take the analogy of the alphabet Y, the path you traveled so far is the vertical line at the bottom. The two divergent lines represent the divorce and the enriched married life. Both are different from the path you followed all along. So, you have a choice at the point at which you are contemplating divorce.

. You have some reasons for seeking divorce. List them out. The list shows some problem areas. What will your life be like if you can find satisfactory solutions to these problems? The need for seeking divorce will not exist. But more than that, you will be creating a blueprint for an enriched marital life.

You may think that if it had been possible to find a solution to the problems, the need for divorce would not have arisen. You were not able to find solutions to the problems because you had been looking at the problems as individual problems. But in reality, the problems are related in the sense that there is likely to be certain common elements in them. When you make an attempt to consider all the problems together, the solution you will find will be an integrated one. More than a solution, it will be a restructuring exercise.

The process works like this. When you think of a problem, you will study it in conjunction with the other problems and if you find any conflict, you will abandon this and think of another solution. By doing this exercise with some patience and understanding, you will soon derive a set of solutions which will not just be the solutions to your problems but a new discovery about certain fine aspects of a relationship.
