KANSAS Town, Kansas - The body of a missing firefighter was observed on Monday evening right after a boating accident.

Gerald Lavallee's body was found by a diving team close to wherever he was last witnessed Sunday night.

Officials say that Lavallee, 48, was on a watercraft that crashed against a deck boat. The deck boat was getting operated by fire Capt. Ron Gibbs, 47.

After the crash, Lavallee fell into the water but only a shredded existence jacket surfaced.

The Lee's Summit Underwater Rescue and Recovery Team and the Kansas City Fire Department teamed up to locate the human body using sonar gear and search dogs.
