Entry Level Resume Cover Letter - What Do You Have To Offer
If there was one thing I emphasized when I was submitting entry level resume cover
letters was my desire to not just get the job but be part of a company that made a difference. I was applying for a technical positions and in order to stand out this is what I did.
In technology, there are constant changes and new things to learn. I know I had a lot to learn so I didnt go around the point. I stated how I wanted to learn and I felt that this company was the best place for me to not just learn but continue to develop the skills I had a foundation on.
How did I bring value to the company? Besides the usual organizational skills, my cover letter stated how much energy I have to give the position and the company. You'd be surprised how often a company needs new energy with new ideas to continue its progress. Besides the energy, I had no other commitments so I was available to start right away and work long hours, if need be.
Entry lever resume cover letters dont have to be bland. I found it very useful to work out of a manual I had on resumes and cover letters and customize it. I always painted a picture of how I would bring value to the organization. Whether it was because I'm bilingual, computer literate, available, social skills, etc.
Dont forget this one. No company wants to hire someone, teach them and train them, to have them leave and go work in some other field or worse the competition. Make sure to reference your desire to find a place you can call home, in the field you want to be in and be part of the company for the long haul.
When you make it to the interview and you will make it. Many times you're asked where you see yourself in 2, 5 or 10 years. Answer this in a way that it relates to the company you're applying too. Hopefully painting a picture of you moving up the ladder! Not about owning your own shop or something like that.
For me this has done it. I know they say entry level is hard and there are a lot of obstacles with the job market being how it is. The bottom line is value is in the eye of the beholder. Paint a picture with your entry level cover letter and make sure they see your value.
