Environmental Protection: Lessons from Dalai Lama
Environmental Protection: Lessons from Dalai Lama
The destruction of our environment is just as devastating as today's worldwide poverty. Effects of this ecological disaster are tragic floods in various places particularly in highly urbanized areas and extinction of our wildlife. The environment that serves as habitat is gradually ruined due to continuous industrialization, inefficient garbage disposal, conversion of forests to agricultural landmarks, and oil and coal exploitation. But, take a closer look of this situation, all the causes of environment deterioration are merely for human consumption. Sadly, for many years now many people still don't realize this reality. We need to uphold environmental protection in order to have a cleaner and greener planet not only for us but particularly for our future generations.
According to 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet, it is not difficult to forgive the destruction in the past, which resulted from ignorance. He said, "Today, however we have access to more information, and it is essential that we re-examine ethically what we have inherited, what we are responsible for, and what we will pass on to coming generations". Everything that he said is quite true. Indeed, it is our responsibility to take good care of our environment, its forests, and wildlife especially now that we have all the resources. As far as we are concern, it is our mission to take action and get involved in this matter.
Dalai Lama further said that if we have the capacity to destroy the environment, so, too, we have the capacity to protect it. We just have to respect and think about the future generations who will inherit this planet...this environment. In truth we just borrowed what we are enjoying now from our future generations. If we are going to destroy it up to the extent, what would be left for earth's human descendants? Based on many studies many wildlife species are now going extinct, and only our Creator can tell how much time is left for us to conserve and protect them so that they may be known by our future generations. As Dalai Lama said "We must act before it is too late."
With the help of today's green technologies and our collaborative efforts we can protect our environment from further deterioration. Visit http://spectrumbluesteel.com for more information on how we can help.
