Epoxy Adhesive Is The Most Widely Used Structural Adhesive
Epoxy adhesives were applied commercially first in the aerospace industry in the early 1950s
, and have rapidly infiltrated almost every industrial sector since that time. Today, epoxy glue is a major part of the class of adhesives called "structural adhesives" that includes polyurethanes, acrylics, cyanoacrylates, and other chemistries available at Adhesive Systems, Inc. They are the most widely used structural adhesive due to their excellent adhesion to most substrates, high strength, and light weight.
How They Work
Once thoroughly mixed, an epoxy and hardener will react together to create a chemical chain-link that binds with itself and any material it touches. Applying heat up to 200F will accelerate this curing process. Epoxy adhesives link better with metals, wood, concrete, masonry, and composite plastics than any other type of adhesive. They require clean surfaces compatible with the adhesives in order to bond properly. Our

Our epoxy are among the strongest adhesives available; and they are formulated to perform in the most demanding environments. All of our epoxies can handle temperatures ranging from minus 67F to above 350F (177C). Our epoxy glue also resists solvents, water and even strong chemicals. The epoxy can be flexible or rigid, transparent or opaque/colored, and fast setting or slow setting.
One Part and Two Part Epoxy Adhesives
Our durable, flexible-use epoxy products are available as a one and two-part epoxy for structural bonding, potting and encapsulating applications requiring a strong bond for assembly or repairs that set quickly. Single component epoxy adhesives consist of one resin that hardens by reaction with surface moisture, a surface applied activator-primer, or through the application of heat. Dual or two part adhesive systems consist of two or more resins or a resin and a hardener, crosslinker, activator or catalyst that when combined, react and cure into a polymerized compound or bond. For simplicity, all of our two-part epoxy are 1:1 mix ratios. We recommend using our convenient cartridges with a mixing nozzle for easiest application.
Setting Styles
Epoxy are available in a wide range of chemical compositions that allow for a number of different setting styles. These setting styles include single component setting, dual component setting, thermosetting, and radiation curing, which includes UV, EB and visible light curing. Epoxy resins exhibit high strength and low shrinkage during cure. Our distinct epoxy cure at room temperature, high temperatures, or even at lower temperatures.
