The summer months are typically the travel season for those who enjoy the wonderful warm waters and sandy beaches around the country, but many people can only get off work during the colder months of winter yet still long for a warm weather vacation. Those people might enjoy themselves in the sandy shores of Tea Gardens in New South Wales, Australia because their winter is our summer and their summer is our winter.
Where the Myall River flows into the Myall Lake, this little town is nestled next to Hawks Nest in Australia and is linked by the only 'singing' bridge. This bridge got its name for the wind that whistles through the beams, making an ominous noise that sounds as if it were singing to the drivers below.
For a more adventurous quest, people can catch a boat several times a day out to a place where there are hundreds of dolphins. People can dolphin watch and even swim with them if they'd like. On of Australia's biggest attractions has to be the Koala and there is a colony in Hawks Nest where tourist can watch them do what they do best, look cute. Additionally, there are hundreds of other wildlife like migratory birds and fish. Another of the areas big attractions has to be the fishing. There are lots of boats in the harbor for people to rent in order to get out to where the fish are biting.
Trails and bushwalking for hiking and biking are all around the wildlife areas for nature lovers surround the lakes. And for those who would rather be in the water, there are such sports as boating, swimming, surfing, kayaking and water skiing. There are outdoor activities for everyone and just about every thing to do outdoor related in this area.
If the outdoors is not what an individual is into, there are indoor activities that will entertain them. A ten pin bowling club and squash which is one of the national pastimes for those who like their sport a little rough around the edges. There is also a game show type amusement show, BBQ and a coffeehouse cafe for those people who want to simply relax with a good book and an even better cup of coffee. Some weekends there are live bands at the club.
Each weekend showcases a new and different market for fresh fruits and handcrafts from local artisans. Some of the handicrafts were designed and made by a local art school. These exciting outdoor markets are always open on the weekends for those visitors who enjoy wondering through hundreds of booths, looking to find that perfect gift or souvenir of their Australian trip.
