Esl School
There are many a very large number of schools that can teach you ESL
. One of the nicest choices we here at Uceda English have is our school in Hackensack, N.J. Many of our schools are regular and super awesome during the day, and offer other types of classes at night (such as computer classes). The schools tend to be busier at night, though, since many people come in straight from work to get started.
This amazing ESL school is run extremely well by an amazing team of employees. There are a large number of classes of ESL offered as well, depending on what level you start at. The students are tested, and then their score determines which level of class they will be placed in. Once they are placed, however, they may ask to move to another level, either up or down. The levels range from zero to 6, so there is a wide range of classes to take. One thing that complicates everything is that the students literally come from all over the globe, and are mixed together class by class.
The students in the zero, or beginning level, work on learning vocabulary, and they learn at a very basic level. Some students know no English at all when they first come to us. To teach them, the teacher must be very physical and demonstrate many of the words to them. You can hear this class doing their many activities as you pass in the hallways. It's very amusing.
The teacher for Level 1 this year was the same one who taught Level 5 for the school last year. She didn't know what she would have this year, so it was with trepidation that she went to teach the class how to
learn English as a Second Language. And that's when she found out that it was a lot of fun to work with the students that are at the beginning levels. Now she wouldn't trade places with anyone!
The students in Levels 3 and 4 work at an intermediate level with their teachers. They watch DVDs, put words together to make large charts, and have a very busy and interesting time. The students that are placed in Level 6 are in the top, most advanced group of students we have. These students do much more reading and discussing in their courses.
Lastly, there is an
ESL/GED Guidance Counselor who helps the students when it comes to looking for jobs, and all else that this entails. They get them prepared to take their test, and to continue their education and possible even get a degree at a 4-year college.
