Deciding to fly the nest and move into your very first home can seem like a daunting

The kitchen is the place that will require the most expenditure. You will need a kettle, toaster and microwave to start off with, hopefully your new pad will already have an oven, fridge and washing machine if not then these items will be necessary. Ovens, fridges and washing machines are otherwise known as white good. White goods is a term used by anyone speaking the Queens English that means kitchen appliances, white goods in America stands for linens. Once you have your white goods you can begin with other kitchen essentials.

If you have spare money there are lot of convenient appliances you can buy for the kitchen such as a toasted sandwich maker, coffee machine, soda-stream, George Foremen grill or a food processor.

You will need some crockery, a good place to pick up some cheap bargains is at your local flee market or at a car boot sale; second hand crockery can be very shabby chic or retro cool depending upon the era. If second hand is not your thing then shop around as some great bargains can be found for this type of home ware. Cutlery and kitchen utensils, including a knife set, along with some cooking pots and pans, will complete your kitchen cupboards.

Some other household essentials that will most likely live in your kitchen area are the iron and ironing board and the Hoover, along with the mop and bucket. If you have hard floors, a steamer is a great item to purchase as this type of cleaner shines up hardwood, tiles or laminate very well without the use of harmful chemicals. Henry the Hoover is a great all round, hard wearing vacuum cleaner that is not only good for your home but also your car.

Moving into your first home is an exciting time and choosing the furniture and ornaments is a lot of fun. The main pieces of furniture you will need are a bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers, a sofa, a coffee table and a few occasional tables or a small dining room table if you have a dining room or the spare room in your kitchen. This should be enough to get you started on the furniture front after your place is kitted out with the major essentials you may begin purchasing ornaments and art. You will or course need linen for the beds and towels for the bathrooms, a laundry basket will prove to be a handy item in your bathroom or bedroom.

The lighting or lamps, art for the walls and the ornaments you choose are unique items that reflect your personality and turn a house into a home. Perhaps you will choose to fill your gaff with cheap and cheerful bits and bobs or you may decide to add to your collection bit by bit with more unique and expensive items.

Hopefully you will already have a television, music system or speakers and a computer to take along to your new home along with your personal items moving into your first home is a once in a lifetime event enjoy.
