. Now in this article I will let you know about the necessary steps you have to adopt in order to eliminate DNS error.
Net Connectivity problem: In this case DNS error is caused due to problems with network connectivity. For resolving this problem you have to verify that the DNS server is still connected to the network. The easiest way is to log to the DNS server and try to ping a few machines. Remember that ping will work if you allow ICMP packets through the firewall on the machine you are pinging.
Local Name resolution failure: Microsoft has provided various ways for resolving host names which are as follows:
1.You can change hosts file located in c:WindowsSystem32dirversetc.
2.DNS lookup requests sent to the specified DNS server.
3.LLMNR - Link-Local Multicast Name Resolution.
4.NetBIOS name query request.
Internet Name resolution failure: After you are assured internet connection still exists then the problem could be related to internet name resolutions failure. For solution of this problem review settings of your ISPs DNS servers. On Windows networking the following options exist for name resolution:
1.LMHOSTS........... Static
2.WINS................. Dynamic
3.DNS................... Dynamic (not the default for NT4 or earlier)
4.HOSTS............... Static
DNS Server Forwarders problem solution: If your local name resolution requests are working but internet requests are falling. Then check whether your DNS server use forwarders to link ISPs DNS server. If your DNS server does use forwarders then try pinging the server to see whether its online. Use the following steps:
1.Go to Start.
2.Open Command prompt (cmd).
3.Enter command - > cd. .
4.Then enter the command - > ipconfig
5. Your computer IP address is written in front of ipv4.
6.In root directory(generally c drive) use command:
Ping -t
7.Then if your computer is still receiving packets then this cant be reason of your problem.
DNS failure: One of the easiest ways to find if your DNS is still working or not, is to use NSlookup command in Command Prompt window. NSlookup verifies that name resolution is working and if name resolution is not working, then it allows you to confirm which DNS server is being used. The Nslookup only list the server it initially connected presently. If the name resolution request is forwarded to other DNS servers, then those servers are not listed through NSlookup command. Use following steps :
1. Go to Start.
2. Open Command prompt (cmd window).
3. Enter command - > NSlookup
Scan for Viruses: Sometime Virus could be the reason of DNS error when it integrate itself with TCP/IP stack and decline all name resolution request. For solution use Antivirus software provided by some of well renowned companies like Norton, Impcsupport and Quick heal etc. They all provide reliable software solution for
computer maintenance.
Router problem: Sometime consumer grade routers can prevent forwarding DNS requests even though other types of traffic continue to flow and Power surge can also damage routers. So for solving these problems replace the routers.
Reboot the DNS server: Sometime name resolution stopped by an unknown reason then rebooting the DNS will resolve this problem.
