The Ping G15 was as easy a driver to get off the tee as I recall ever hitting. An elongated face provides a sweet spot that covers the mishits of most golfers. Heel and toe hits were not greatly penalized and most of my tee shots ended up in the short grass with only a small loss of distance on mishits. If you have a tendancy to be inconsistent off the tee, Ping G15 Driver should be just the ticket. I found the stock shaft to be well-balanced and matched up well with additional weight Ping has put into the head of Ping G15 Driver. The only concern might be that the ball could launch too high.

However, Ping has lowered the spin rate of the head, which provided some extra roll, I found. Based on all the hype for this club I think everyone expected it to perform and have a much higher overall score. The sole of Ping G15 Driver is what I would consider among PING's greatest improvements. The chrome treatment on the sole isn't new but the technical changes gave PING the ability to make significant esthetic changes. Rather than rubbing your face in the fact that there is a ton of new technology, PING's red, black and chrome paint treatment highlights the technology while remaining understated.

My problem with PING equipment has always been esthetics. PING has created some clubs that only the Ping G15 Driver could love. The confidence that a beautiful looking club inspires in us before we hit a shot down a tight fairway can be crucial. PING never made it into my bag for that reason alone.
